Highly competent and compassionate nurses are drawn to the Northwest Territories. Our nurses work in an expanded role within the Northwest Territories integrated primary health care system, working as community health nurses, public health nurses, home care nurses, and hospital nurses.
Work settings vary from remote community health centres to public health units and secondary and tertiary hospitals.
If you are a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner, we invite you to experience the north by providing casual nursing services throughout the Northwest Territories. Our settings range from remote one-nurse outposts to tertiary care settings in our larger centres. Whether you work as a Community Health Nurse, Public Health Nurse, Home Care Nurse or Hospital Nurse, nursing in the North will provide you with opportunities to challenge your skills.
The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority, the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority, and the Tlicho Community Services Agency manage and deliver community and facility-based services for health care throughout the Northwest Territories.
As part of the recruitment process, your resume will be reviewed to determine if you have the education and experience required for community health nursing or a hospital setting. If you meet the requirements, a Nurse Manager and a Human Resources Representative will invite you for an interview. If you are successful in this recruitment process you will be added to the Government of the Northwest Territories casual employment list.
Within the Northwest Territories nurses must be eligible for registration with the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU). For more information on Nursing Licensing in the Northwest Territories please visit the following site: www.rnantnu.ca.
