The University of Alberta Family Medicine Residency Program has added Yellowknife as their newest residency training site! We will take 2 family medicine residents each year to be trained by our enthusiastic preceptors in a culturally diverse environment, giving you the clinical courage you will need to practice anywhere in Canada.
Our residency training will be a mix of integrated and blocked rotations. The program is based out of Yellowknife with time spent in the smaller communities of the Northwest Territories, two community rural blocks spent in Fort Smith, another two community rural blocks spent in Inuvik, and 5 blocks spent in Alberta.
Our residents will train in our urban hospitals, rural community centres, and perhaps even our remote health cabins! Our residents will need to be adventurous as many of our communities are accessible only by fly-in or by winter road. If you are looking for an urban, rural and remote residency experience, the University of Alberta Family Medicine Residency Program– Yellowknife Site in may be the perfect fit for you!
